Employee Spotlight – Wendy Warner

Meet Wendy Warner - Vice President

Employee Spotlight – Wendy Warner

How has your career grown since starting at Marcum Search?
The very same reasons that drew me to Marcum are the very same reasons that have propelled my career since joining the organization. I was most intrigued by the reach and mission of the organization and the diversity of the business – as not just a stand-alone search firm yet, a highly diversified Staffing, Accounting, Advisory Services, Technology and Marketing leader. The depth of our organization, expertise of our colleagues, standard of ethics, philanthropic nature and most importantly, our broad network has enabled me to expand my knowledge and provide a level of service that reaches far beyond the norm. I have become a much more diversified staffing partner and recruiter.

In my career I am most proud of…
The referral pipeline that has resulted from the relationships that I have enjoyed while making such a profound impact on the careers, livelihood and successes of so many candidates and organizations….many of whom have become my dearest friends and most loyal clients. This has been the greatest compliment

My favorite quote is…
Integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is watching. ~ C.S. Lewis

Three words to describe myself…
Loyal, compassionate and competitive

My perfect day is…
Any day that involves family, whether it’s a visit, sharing a milestone, being the “go to” for advice or a shoulder to lean on or enjoying a great belly laugh together. Family is everything.

Advice for my 16 year old self…
You don’t know it all! Parents do truly love unconditionally…reciprocate and appreciate more… and don’t be the reason they stay awake nights worrying. It’s also okay to be a rebel and simultaneously a recipient of the “perfect attendance” award, the latter would build a strong work ethic and sense of responsibility in years to come! Work hard…play hard…worry less and you can’t please all of the people all of the time!

The person who had the biggest impact on my life is…
There is not one, there is a team…my parents. They beautifully balance each other (after 62 years of marriage) and in turn, I believe that they kept me balanced. There was tough love combined with lessons of hard work, discipline, compassion, the importance of laughter, how to be both sensitive and strong, to give when you can, persevere when we must and believe in yourself

Number 1 on my bucket list is…
After spending 3 years at the driving range, to master my golf skills and level of confidence and finally hit the greens and enjoy quality time and rounds with my significant other…also known as my man-friend! Next of course, is to continue traveling the US, as there are so many more fabulous places to visit right in our own backyard…Nashville, Charleston, Scottsdale!

What is your best tip on how to stay connected while still practicing social distancing during COVID-19?
ZOOM was a favorite childhood television program and it was given a renewed virtual meaning over the past year! It’s been a wonderful way to stay connected, as well as using Facetime and picking up the telephone! This past year really made me appreciate the connections that we have always taken for granted. Connecting personally is so important, especially with those who have been isolated while living independently.

What is one thing you hope to achieve in 2021?
I hope to go back to some sense of “normalcy” in the coming months and safely spend maskless quality time in the presence of family, friends and clients! I look forward to meeting many who I have come to know over the past year, for the very first time in person
