Third Thursday Thoughts, 3rd Edition

From Chief Executive Officer, Brian Lucas

Third Thursday Thoughts

In the past few months, what is the smallest adjustment you have made within the organization that has had the most positive result?
We have leveraged our advanced technology and our associates have responded in a positive way. As a result, our productivity is up and so is the overall morale of our team. Video meetings are a requirement on the Marcum Search team!

What are the most important qualities to look for when seeking candidates for your clients?
Our goal is to not only match the candidates’ technical abilities required for the role, but to get to know our clients as if we work there.  We want to match our candidates to the client’s cultural needs to ensure long-term success within the organization. Having a clear perspective on our client’s organizational culture lends itself to identify the ideal fit.

What are you doing daily to ensure growth and development within the organization?
We have integrated with Marcum LLP to utilize their training programs. We encourage all of our associates to take full advantage of the diverse training that Marcum University has to offer. One of the biggest benefits of Marcum University is its focus on the importance of soft skills. Developing a broad base of soft skills is especially significant in the current climate we are in today.

What makes Marcum Search unique and why should potential customers choose us over our competitors?
Marcum Search is unique because as the Talent Advisory arm of the Marcum Group, many invaluable resources are available to us. We maintain high ethical standards and always go the extra mile for our clients.

What is the best advice you would give someone in the current market who is preparing to interview?
The best advice is to be prepared and do your research. Research the company and the people you are planning to meet with.  Be ready to share your successes and also areas where you have room for improvement. Being responsive and flexible with your availability is also important. Preparing for a video interview is another key to success. Dress should be business professional unless otherwise instructed, have access to a quiet space with a professional background, and test your audio and video to ensure a successful remote interview. Lastly, be mindful of creating and maintaining professional social media across all platforms.
