Employee Spotlight – Mindy Datcher

Tell us a little about yourself….
I was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio and relocated to Houston, Texas to be with my husband about 7 years ago. I have an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education, taught kindergarten for a year and then went off to receive my Juris Doctorate. I “fell” into recruiting a decade ago and l have loved it from day 1.

How has your career grown since starting at Marcum Search?
Since joining Marcum Search, I have gained further knowledge and understanding of public accounting which helps me make successful placements with Marcum LLP and my external clients.

My favorite quote is…
Treat others how you would like to be treated.

Three words to describe myself…
Fun-loving, family-oriented, and silly!

My perfect day is…
At an all-inclusive resort in Cancun with my husband enjoying the beautiful weather and scenery, going to the spa, and eating delicious foods.

Advice for my 16 year old self…
You are beautiful just the way you are.

Number 1 on my bucket list…
To hike the “Stairway to Heaven” trail in Oahu, Hawaii. This trail consists of 3,922 steps and takes approximately 2-5 hours.

The person who had the biggest impact on my life is…
I would have to pick two, my father and my husband. I am very blessed that I found a husband that has the same qualities that I admired most in my father. Both men always put family first, very honest, always willing to help others, and hardworking. I have learned tremendously from both and try to live by their example.

A funny or memorable experience from your career or personal life?
When I first started recruiting, I was also a realtor. The first candidate that I placed happened to be a relocation. I was able to find this candidate their dream job and sell them their forever home. The inside joke within my office was always letting candidates know we had an in-house realtor in case they needed one.

In my career I am most proud of…
I am most proud of the relationships I have built. I pride myself in always keeping in touch with my clients and candidates. I love to always be their “go to” person when they are hiring for a position on their team or ready to explore new opportunities.
