Employee Spotlight – Ashley Torres

Tell us a little about yourself
Hi, I’m Ashley! I have lived in Northern NJ my entire life and graduated from Montclair State University with an Accounting degree. I started my career in Audit before making the transition into recruiting a year and a half ago. I’m a dog lover and have two dogs- Bella & Motta, who I love very much.

How has your career grown since starting at Marcum Search?
I joined Marcum Search a little over a year ago and I have learned so much since then thanks to my supportive team. I have had the opportunity to work on different types of roles for different regions!

Three words to describe myself
determined, hard-working, caring

My perfect day is
Being at home and relaxing or spending time with family and friends watching movies or playing board games.

Advice for my 16 year old self
Start investing early and do not worry too much about the future.

Number 1 on my bucket list
I would love to go to Italy and Greece one day!

The person who had the biggest impact on my life is
My mom has had the biggest impact on my life. She was a single mother raising both my brother and I, and she always did the best she could to make sure we had everything. I wouldn’t be the person that I am today if it wasn’t for her.

In my career I am most proud of
Making the transition from Audit into Recruiting. At the time, when I was an auditor, I knew it was not the career for me and it felt impossible to make a career change. Luckily, I was given the opportunity to try out recruiting and have loved it ever since!

A funny or memorable experience from your career or personal life?
One of the most memorable experiences in my life is going to Machu Picchu in Peru and getting engaged there to my now fiance.
