Employee Spotlight – Stephanie Oleaga

Meet Stephanie Oleaga, Executive Vice President

Employee Spotlight – Stephanie Oleaga

How has your career grown since starting at Marcum Search?
Because our parent company Marcum LLP has a larger footprint, Marcum Search can cast a much wider net- which has allowed me to network on a broader level. I have also been able to tap into the amazing talent of our internal partners and staff and learn from them. I have definitely expanded my knowledge within different industries due to collaboration and teamwork.

In my career I am most proud of…
being resilient and adjusting. I started my own business in the midst of 9/11, and maintained a steady course through some rough years when our economy took a downturn. Keeping focused, reacting appropriately in a mercurial environment and being flexible.

My favorite quote is…
…”Enjoy the little things in life, for someday you will realize they were the big things”

Three words to describe myself…
empathetic, sarcastic, and competitive.

My perfect day is…
Being with my family and playing games, without me begging them, with pizza, no fighting, and a really big glass of wine.

Advice for my 16 year old self…
Pay attention more. Give back even just a little. Tell your parents that you love them every day. And those eye rolls will come back to haunt you with your own children!

The person who had the biggest impact on my life is…
My grandmother. When I am with her I am my best self. She has lived through tremendous loss and still has enough love and laughter to give to everyone she is with. She is the epitome of a strong woman. People will always remember her for how she made them feel.

Number 1 on my bucket list is…
European adventure, First stop- Italy.

What is your best tip on how to stay connected while still practicing social distancing during Covid-19?
Don’t wait for others to make the first move- reach out first. Let family and friends know you’re thinking of them. Arrange virtual game nights (jackbox.tv is amazing!), impromptu happy hours, video chats. Make it part of your weekly new routine. I bet you’ll never talk to your family and friends as much as you do now!
